Why you should have a super morning routine

Morning Routines | College Info Geek

I never had a morning routine. I only did something in the morning.

If I already had a morning routine it would be something like this:

Waking up as late as possible to make it just in time for my first appointment/work. Just joking..

I can tell you: that was not a success.

During my search for the good life, I kept coming across the importance of an optimal morning routine. I couldn’t avoid it anymore, so I started taking it seriously. It wasn’t an easy road.

I tried dozens of habits during my morning. I kept the most successful.

And now? I never want to be without a morning routine again.

In fact. My morning has become the most important moment of my day. Something my younger self would never believe.

In this article I am not going to tell you what a morning routine should look like. There is no gold standard in that.

No, I want to make it clear to you here why you should have a morning routine. And don’t be afraid. You don’t get a long list of reasons. I share the three most important reasons I know. Maybe you will have more.

1. A morning routine is essential for your productivity

What is Productivity? How to Define and Measure It? | Simplilearn

Do you want to get more out of your days? Then start with your morning routine.

You are not distracted in the morning. You have not consumed any energy yet. And you can do exactly what helps make your day a success.

That ties in with perhaps the most important tip I know for productivity:

Decide each day what your most important task is for that day. Start each day with that task. Repeat that. So you have a productive day every day.

To do that, you need a morning routine.

If you leave every morning to chance, there is little chance that you will do the right thing. Then ‘ what feels best ‘ takes over from ‘ what’s best ‘.

A quote from behavioral expert Nir Eyal sums this up perfectly:

The antidote to impulsiveness is forethought.

Freely said: the antidote to impulsiveness is to think in advance what you are doing.

If you still have to decide what to do in the moment, then you are too late. You must have thought this through beforehand.

A morning routine is completely thought out in advance. You don’t leave your morning to chance like this. You do the right thing every morning. You set the tone for the rest of the day.

You can also plan the rest of your day during your morning routine. That way you have a clear picture every day of the most important tasks that day.

My morning routine has become my anchor for my productivity . Even if I have a really bad day, another morning routine awaits the next day. That’s way I can immediately recover.

And there are a number of reasons why a morning routine contributes to your productivity:

  • Your willpower is still at its maximum in the morning. The best time to do your most important tasks.
  • The morning is the best time for meditation. One of the most important exercises for productivity.
  • You have a moment for reflection. This way you can think ‘why’ you do everything. And you can clarify what your goals are for that day.

2. Successful people have a morning routine

Ask anyone on the street about their morning routine and you’ll likely get an answer like:

What kind of routine?

Ask a successful person about her morning routine and you’ll likely get a comprehensive story.

Just look it up. The entire internet is full of morning routines of successful people.

Could it be a coincidence that they deal with their morning so consciously and not the rest of the world?

3. With your morning routine you have the most influence on the quality of your life

Yes, you read that correctly.

A morning routine has the most influence on the quality of your life.

Just look at it this way:

Your life is a sum of what your days look like. If you have good days, you have a good quality life.

The secret of a good life is to make sure you have good days. And you simply have to repeat that.

And what influences the quality of your days the most?

Right. A morning routine!

Why isn’t that another time of the day? That’s because your morning is the only best time of the day to organize yourself completely.

In the morning you have no input from outside yet. You wake up with yourself. You’re not at work yet. Nothing is expected of you yet. It’s the only time of the day where you don’t have to take anything into account yet.

And think about it. Everyone secretly has a morning routine. Everyone does the same thing almost every morning. The only question is:

Have you consciously chosen your morning routine, or do you leave your mornings to chance?

Start your successful morning routine

Enough reasons to start tomorrow with your own morning routine.

But how do you start?

Easy.

Yes it is simple, but you also have to start simple. As small as possible. It’s not about setting up the most successful morning routine as quickly as possible. Your goal should be to have a morning routine that you can sustain.

It takes time to make your activities a habit. but keep pushing.

My morning now consists of maybe twenty different habits that I perform in an hour and a half. It took me several years to achieve that.

You can probably do that faster. Especially if you keep it simple.

The most important thing is that you stick with it. And as I always say: the secret is in the 1%. Make sure your morning tomorrow is 1% better than the day before.

Entrepreneurs Growth is not that Difficult:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

1. Set goals
2. Achieving goals

Still, many entrepreneurs are going wrong there.

1. No / vague goals
2. Work harder and harder as a strategy to achieve the goals.

Can you NOW list your 3 most important business growth goals for Q4 2019?

Most people can't name anything.
And the people who say something do not set goals, but hope:

More sales
Better customer retention
Larger margins
That kind of goals is like a darts game where the assignment is:

"Throw some arrows in the board."

Quite hopeless. And yet that is exactly the way so many entrepreneurs try to grow.

Vague. Without strategy.

The danger: if you throw enough arrows in the direction of the dartboard, an arrow will automatically end up in the bulls eye once in a while.
The entrepreneur happily throws his arms in the air and shouts, "You see, it works!"

In reality this is the formula for success:

1. Set meaningful and challenging goals
2. Develop a system for achieving those goals

If a goal is not useful, stop it immediately in the event of a setback or temptation.
If a goal is not challenging, you only go half way for it.

Furthermore, it is important to realize that you do not have to work twice as hard to double your result.
If you continuously focus only on what matters most, your output will double without increasing your input.

But there is a step missing in this formula.
And without this step you can achieve goal after goal, and eventually die with regret.

The formula for sustainable success:
1. Set meaningful and challenging goals
2. Develop a system for achieving those goals
3. Develop habits so that you enjoy the goals you have achieved (the missing step)

If you don't have them, Learn them, Develop them, Use them, make them your habit.

From holiday pleasure to work pleasure

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Holidays are over. So it’s time to get back to work. It was a great time spent but everything has an end.So Holidays are over…

Image result for holiday

The SUMMER vacation is over and work has started again. You are bothered by a colleague who says: ‘And how was your vacation? Did you have fun? Did you enjoy it? Too bad you have to start again now, don’t you? Well, get your chest wet. We have been dying here. There is a considerable workload, so you can handle it a lot. ” You think about that for a moment. It is actually special that our experience of leisure and work is seen as two extremes. We see holidays as something fun and relaxing that you can enjoy. But when it comes to work, this association is made less. No, that is rather seen as necessary, serious, boring and sometimes stressful. Can’t it be otherwise? You are more at work than on vacation.

Job satisfaction or success?
You think back to the time that you applied. You were looking for a job that would make you happy. You were happy that you got the job and you were looking forward to a pleasant time. You enjoyed the prospect of the variation and the challenges that the work would offer. This was your idea about job satisfaction. Have those expectations come true? Do you (still) enjoy your work? And I do not mean that you are satisfied with your job, but that you really enjoy it. That after a few days off you cannot wait to get back to work and you will enjoy the highlights that the work offers. It would be nice if we could look at our work that way. Yet we rarely do that. Fun is not the first word we think about when we talk about work. We wish someone who goes on holiday a lot of fun. Is he going to work, then we wish him every success. Apparently with such a wish we focus on performance and results instead of pleasure.

ANYWAY WORK WITH PLEASURE

WHY NUTRITION, SLEEP AND EXERCISE ARE IMPORTANT FOR SUCCESS

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

No matter who you are, but as human I like to share the following with all of you…

Be honest: how well do you take care of yourself? Or are you also such a hard worker? The care for your health should actually come first, even before your work. If you are not healthy, you can not be successful. In this way, nutrition, sleep and exercise (not) contribute to your success:

Nutrition If you are at work from early in the morning, you will have a raging hunger at lunchtime. You long for a hearty lunch, such as a thick slice of bread or pasta salad. Whether you give in to high-calorie food, such as a croquette. Recognizable? Have you ever thought about what a carbohydrate and calorie-rich lunch does with your productivity? A few hours later, the inevitable energy dip follows. For that reason, many people drop in at noon. Research shows that if you eat more fruit and vegetables during lunch, your afternoon is not only more productive. You also feel more involved in your work and even happier. The best you can eat in the course of the morning,so that you have enough of a tasty salad with fresh vegetables or fruit during lunch.

Sleep
Work can take a lot of time. Do you already work before the sun goes up and do you stop working when the sun is (almost) under? Do you check your email in the evenings or do you just walk behind the computer to finish something after dinner? Small chance that your body gets enough rest. Rest is important, because a sleep deprivation can not only lead to more stress. You can also suffer from your cholesterol. A lack of sleep can even lead to reduced cognitive abilities. In other words, your performance will suffer if you do not get enough rest. What to do? Maintain fixed work and sleep times. Get up when the alarm goes off and plan some time at the end of the day to let go of your work. Avoid sleeping late, because then you disturb your sleep rhythm.

Movement

Exercise helps to relieve stress and to get away from daily worries at work. In addition, sports protect you from depression and other mental barriers to success. Often it does not work to allow yourself to go for a walk during the lunch or to exercise as soon as you get home. In the issues of the day you forget your intention easily. In the evening you often give priority to your work (or TV). Therefore make movement a part of your daily schedule. Put in your agenda for half an hour to an hour and stick to it. After exercising you feel lighter, more energetic and happier. You can do more physically and also mentally you can have more. That too contributes to success.

7 TIPS FOR MORE SELF-CONFIDENCE

FacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmailEveryone has a voice in his head. A voice that can say nice and unkind things. A voice that helps you further or what gets you down. How do you ensure that you continue to say the right things to yourself? Which habits provide more confidence? Beautiful questions with 7 beautiful answers …

1. Compare yourself with yourself
Why would you compare yourself with others? No one in the whole world can be better than you yourself. If you do not compare with anyone, you become who you are. Then you have a good focus on getting the best out of yourself.
Michael Jordan, the best basketball player of all times, has often said that he has been training a lot to defeat himself. To become better yourself. To grow yourself. A wonderful approach.

2. Be more friendly to others
If you are friendlier to others, you will look at yourself differently. In your mind you give yourself pat on the back of your own behavior. The friendlier you are, the easier you can appreciate yourself. And an additional (big) advantage is that your friendliness often recovers in the long term.

3. If you make a mistake, be your best friend yourself
Think of a mistake about what your best friend would say to you. Change perspective. Do the things that the other would say. Talk to yourself the way the other would help you. It helps to look more positively at your mistakes. Mistakes are proof that you are trying something new. Mistakes are growth opportunities.

4. Let go of perfectionism
Perfectionism blocks progress. Because of the fear that something will not be perfect, you will only be late in action. The fear that something will not go perfectly makes you constantly hesitate. A nice way to let go of perfectionism is to look less far ahead. Follow your heart and take small steps. Every small step forward gives you confidence. Focus on the effort you will make.

5. Celebrate your successes
Regularly reflect on the successes you achieve. With the things that have gone well through your efforts. At the beautiful things that you can be grateful for. Celebrate what you do well and share it with people who can be happy for you. By celebrating your successes, you become increasingly convinced of your own qualities, your own contribution, your own growth.

6. Say the right things to yourself
Make frequent use of affirmations. These are short, powerful sentences that reinforce your self-confidence. Think of a positive self-statement and write it down. Repeat these several times on a day for yourself. The more often, the better. Just keep repeating.

7. Consider yourself why your self-confidence is so important
– Life becomes a lot easier. You see fewer bears on the road.
– You are increasingly looking for acceptance by others and appreciation from others.
– You do not tackle yourself less often. This makes it easier to motivate yourself.
– Others would like to do with you. After all, you are easy to deal with.
– You win the trust of others.
– You believe in yourself and this has a big influence on where you end up.

What a wonderful reason. The more you work on your self-confidence, the belief in yourself and in your own possibilities, the better your life becomes and the easier it is to become more successful. A powerful development.

How to develop an action plan for bigger success

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

  • What is an action plan?
  • What are the criteria for a good action plan?
  • Why should you develop an action plan?
  • When should you develop an action plan?
  • How to write an action plan

What is an action plan?

In some ways, an action plan is a “heroic” act: it helps us turn our dreams into a reality. An action plan is a way to make sure your organization’s vision is made concrete. It describes the way your group will use its strategies to meet its objectives. An action plan consists of a number of action steps or changes to be brought about in your community.

Each action step or change to be sought should include the following information:

  • What actions or changes will occur
  • Who will carry out these changes
  • By when they will take place, and for how long
  • What resources (i.e., money, staff) are needed to carry out these changes
  • Communication (who should know what?)

What are the criteria for a good action plan?

The action plan for your initiative should meet several criteria.

Is the action plan:

  • Complete? Does it list all the action steps or changes to be sought in all relevant parts of the community (e.g., schools, business, government, faith community)?
  • Clear? Is it apparent who will do what by when?
  • Current? Does the action plan reflect the current work? Does it anticipate newly emerging opportunities and barriers?

Why should you develop an action plan?

There is an inspirational adage that says, “People don’t plan to fail. Instead they fail to plan.” Because you certainly don’t want to fail, it makes sense to take all of the steps necessary to ensure success, including developing an action plan.

There are lots of good reasons to work out the details of your organization’s work in an action plan, including:

  • To lend credibility to your organization. An action plan shows members of the community (including grant makers) that your organization is well ordered and dedicated to getting things done.
  • To be sure you don’t overlook any of the details
  • To understand what is and isn’t possible for your organization to do
  • For efficiency: to save time, energy, and resources in the long run
  • For accountability: To increase the chances that people will do what needs to be done

When should you create an action plan?

Ideally, an action plan should be developed within the first six months to one year of the start of an organization. It is developed after you have determined the vision, mission, objectives, and strategies of your group. If you develop an action plan when you are ready to start getting things done, it will give you a blueprint for running your organization or initiative.

Remember, though, that an action plan is always a work in progress. It is not something you can write, lock in your file drawers, and forget about. Keep it visible. Display it prominently. As your organization changes and grows, you will want to continually (usually monthly) revise your action plan to fit the changing needs of your group and community.

How to write an action plan

Determine what people and sectors of the community should be changed and involved in finding solutions

If you have been using the VMOSA (Vision, Mission, Objectives, Strategies, Action Plans) model, you might have already done this, when you were deciding upon your group’s objectives. Again, try to be inclusive. Most of the health and development issues that community partnerships deal with are community-wide, and thus need a community-wide solution. Possible sectors include the media, the business community, religious organizations, schools, youth organizations, social service organizations, health organizations, and others.

Some members of the community you might consider asking to join the action planning group include:

  • Influential people from all the parts of the community affected by your initiative (e.g., from churches and synagogues, the school system, law enforcement, etc.)
  • People who are directly involved in the problem (e.g., local high school students and their parents might be involved in planning a coalition trying to reduce teen substance abuse)
  • Members of grassroots organizations
  • Members of the various ethnic and cultural groups in your community
  • People you know who are interested in the problem or issue
  • Newcomers or young people in the community who are not yet involved

Let’s consider some of the people who were involved with the planning group for the fictional Reducing the Risks (R.T.R) Coalition that hopes to reduce the rate of teen pregnancy. Some of the members of this planning group included teachers at the local high school, local teenagers and their parents, members of the clergy, counselors and school nurses, staff of the county health department, and members of youth organizations, service agencies, and other organizations that focus on youth issues.

Convene a planning group in your community to design your action plan. This might be the same group of people who worked with you to decide your group’s strategies and objectives. If you are organizing a new group of people, try to make your planning committee as diverse and inclusive as possible. Your group should look like the people most affected by the problem or issue.

Once everyone is present, go over your organization’s:

  • Vision
  • Mission
  • Objectives
  • Strategies
  • Targets and agents of change (e.g., youth, parents and guardians, clergy)
  • Proposed changes for each sector of the community (e.g., schools, faith community, service organizations, health organizations, government)

Develop an action plan composed of action steps that address all proposed changes. The plan should be complete, clear, and current. Additionally, the action plan should include information and ideas you have already gathered while brainstorming about your objectives and your strategies. What are the steps you must take to carry out your objectives while still fulfilling your vision and mission? Now it’s time for all of the VMOSA components to come together. While the plan might address general goals you want to see accomplished, the action steps will help you determine the specific actions you will take to help make your vision a reality. Here are some guidelines to follow to write action steps.

Members of the community initiative will want to determine:

  • What action or change will occur
  • Who will carry it out
  • When it will take place, and for how long
  • What resources (i.e., money, staff) are needed to carry out the change
  • Communication (who should know what)

Things to note about this portion of the RTR action plan:

  • It appears complete. Although this step seems fully developed, we would need to review the entire action plan to see whether all community and system changes that should be sought are included.
  • It is clear. We know who will do what by when.
  • It seems current. We would need to know more about other current work (and new opportunities and barriers) to judge whether this portion of the action plan is up-to-date.

Review your completed action plan carefully to check for completeness. Make sure that each proposed change will help accomplish your group’s mission. Also, be sure that the action plan taken as a whole will help you complete your mission; that is, make sure you aren’t leaving anything out.

Follow through. One hard part (figuring out what to do) is finished. Now take your plan and run with it! Remember the 80-20 rule: successful efforts are 80% follow through on planned actions and 20% planning for success.

Keep everyone informed about what’s going on. Communicate to everyone involved how his or her input was incorporated. No one likes to feel like her wit and wisdom has been ignored.

Keep track of what (and how well) you’ve done. Always keep track of what the group has actually done. If the community change (a new program or policy) took significant time or resources, it’s also a good idea to evaluate what you have done, either formally or informally.

Keep several questions in mind for both yourself and others:

  • Are we doing what we said we’d do?
  • Are we doing it well?
  • Is what we are doing advancing the mission?

You can address these questions informally (ask yourself, chat with friends and other people), as well as formally, through surveys and other evaluation methods.

Celebrate a job well done! Celebrate your accomplishments; you and those you work with deserve it. Celebration helps keep everyone excited and interested in the work they are doing.

After you’ve written your action plan: Getting members to do what they said they would

Every community organization has undoubtedly had this happen: you plan and you assign tasks to get everything you’ve planned to do accomplished. Everyone agrees (maybe they even offer) to do certain tasks, and you all leave with a great feeling of accomplishment. The problem? At the next meeting, nothing has been done. Besides tearing out your hair, what can you do?

Fortunately, there are several things you can try. It’s particularly tricky in the case of volunteers, because you don’t want to lean too hard on someone who is donating their time and energy to begin with. Still, you can make it easier for members to get things done (and harder to avoid work) without acting like the mean neighbor down the street. Some of these gentle reminders include:

  • Regular phone calls from staff members or dedicated volunteers asking others how they are doing with their tasks. This should be a supportive call, not a “are you doing what you’re supposed to” call. The person calling can offer emotional support “how are you doing?” as well as see if the group member needs any other assistance. A friendly call such as this can be seen as helpful, give the member the sense that he is a very important part of the group, and serve as a great reminder to do what he said he would do.
  • Distributing the action plan in writing to all members, with names attached to specific tasks. (Additionally, this can be a great time to ask for feedback before the plan becomes “official.”)
  • Making sure timelines (with due dates) are complete, clear and current.
  • At regular group meetings, such as committee meetings or board meetings, ask members to report on accomplishing the tasks they have set out to do. Consider making this a regular part of the meeting.
  • Celebrate the accomplishment of tasks. It’s important that getting something done actually means something, and is recognized by the group as a whole.

Follow up on the action plan regularly. You are asking members to be accountable, and to get things done on a regular basis. If they have agreed, you should help them fulfill their commitment as best you can.Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

10 Main Approaches to Move Others to Be Their Best

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

We all know people who are inspiring. But just how does one inspire others? Here are ten main simple rules you can inspire people to be their best, let them jump and fly and touch the sky:

Be a good example. People watch what you do more than they listen to what you say. Be someone worth emulating.

Care about others. People don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care. Ask questions. Take a genuine interest in people.

Encouragement. Everyone goes through tough times. When you support people and encourage them through these times, you’ll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves and in the situation.

Be inspired yourself. Look for people, ideas, environments and knowledge that you find inspiring and motivating.

Share from your own experience. You have more to share than you realize. Mine the rich experiences of your life and share your wisdom from your unique point of view. You may be the only one who can touch someone with your inspiring message.

Be vulnerable. Be willing to share your failures as well as your successes. Others will relate to you. They’ll understand that they’re not the only ones with challenges.

Tell stories. Facts tell and stories sell. They inspire, too. We learn best from parables and we all need to develop our own inspiring stories.

Be a good communicator. Increasing your ability to communicate effectively is a critical element for you to inspire others. Watch how you speak and what you say. Invest in your communication skills.

Challenge people. Many of us have had teachers who at times seemed more like tormentors than mentors. They challenged us to do our best, and we were better for it. Practice “carefrontation”—the careful and caring confrontation of others.

Read. It may not follow that all readers are leaders, but certainly all leaders are readers. Stay informed. Share what you read with others. Tell people about books that have inspired you.
