Why we have to work 30 hours…Is the Caribbean Region ready for this implementation.

WORKING TREND WATCH

Although vacancies are increasingly asking for staff without a ‘9 to 5 mentality’, eight hours of work per day in the Caribbean region has been the norm for 100 years. In other countries there is already a lot of experimentation with fewer working hours. The Swedish experiments with the 30-hour working week have reached many international media.

Work five days, 6 hours a day

The Swedish experiments first compared two different (working) models. The first model focuses on the 30-hour working week (five days working six hours a day), where managers give employees more freedom. From that freedom, as more can decide for themselves, they also produce more and their motivation is higher.
The second model is just the opposite, and uses the traditional 40-hour working week. In this model, the focus is on management decisions and management. Managers motivate employees by properly indicating what happens in the process and when. In this way the company runs fully efficiently.

Experiments abroad

In a nursing home in Götenberg (Sweden) they experimented for no less than two years with this 30-hour working week from the Swedish model, after which they were thoroughly evaluated. What turned out to be? Everything had become more positive. Less fatigue, less absenteeism, less stress and higher client satisfaction. The only downside was increased costs. Logical, when employees are paid eight hours and work six hours. The revenues turned out not to be large enough to compensate for this gap. That is why the experiment at the Svartedalen nursing home was not continued, but the tests are continuing elsewhere.

For example, there is a Toyota maintenance center that works with complete satisfaction with shifts of twice six hours. A marketing agency in Scotland with highly skilled knowledge workers has also been working with the six-hour working day for two years. They start at 9:30 am and close the door at 3:45 pm. The result: the output and quality of that output are just as high as before – with the 40-hour working week. Absence and stress have decreased and there is a better work-life balance.

Experiments in the Netherlands

The Dutch are good at part-time work. A logical consequence of the one and a half earner model: man works full time, woman works part time. With the arrival of the 30-hour working week, the equal division of tasks between men and women suddenly comes much closer. To achieve that, customization is required. After all, you have to complete tasks from a 40-hour working week to a 30-hour working week. Employees must decide for themselves what the improvement should look like, and continue to hold onto this. If employees are given more room to determine the customized work themselves, then the motivation remains higher in the long term. And to achieve that, the biggest change is in the mindset – especially of the employer.

By experimenting with shorter working days or weeks, their fear can be relieved because they start to see the benefits. Offering freedom in working hours and workplaces (and thereby offering technologies such as video conferencing ) also helps to increase attractiveness as an employer.
Shorter working days also offer a solution to the debate about hard professions, longer working hours and sustainable employability. The generation pacts and deals on part-time work during the final phase of working life already show this.

Cost

And what does this mean for the costs (also a frequently heard objection from employers)? Can working shorter hours be rewarded with a full-time salary? We can conclude that at least half of the hours is earned back by the increase in productivity. Whether that is sufficient to invest by employers in sustainable employability or by the government in a distant future in which fewer people are needed to do the same work can be seen. It would be interesting and strengthen our position as a pioneering country.

Focus is the engine

To make a 30-hour working week a success, it is important to give a clear focus to your employees. The fact is that if people have less time available, they are more critical of what really needs to be done. They often achieve the same quality in less time. It is a combination of the right assignment, the right deadline, sufficient appreciation and room to excel. On that leads to motivated employees, whether you should start with that motivation is chicken and egg.

In the Caribbean region (CARICOM), Governments must come together to discuss about this.As the climate is changing very fast, we have to change systems.

Are drones a solution for the shortage of farm workers in rural communities?

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

AGRICULTURAL TREND WATCH

Rural farms are increasingly faced with labor shortages, especially in Japan. For the Nileworks Inc startup, the solution lies in the very latest technology – such as drones. The latest technology of this drone startup has been tested in northeastern Japan for several months.

The Nile-T18 drone is designed to analyze rice stalks and determine how much fertilizer or pesticide the crop needs. The drone can then add fertilizer in just 15 minutes, a task that involves a human worker for at least an hour. Nileworks is currently negotiating with the Japanese authorities to enable farmers to get their drones to do their work without a permit. “Now that we are facing a shortage of next generation farmers, it is our mission to come up with new ideas to increase farmers’ productivity and income.

Maybe it is already time for Caribbean farmers to get into this upcoming trend.

The Common Denominator of Burnout

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Your load was apparently greater than your capacity. Have you burned out, do you no longer have any fut, or can you barely concentrate? Do you have a noise in your head or the feeling that your head consists of cotton wool? Do you cry, are you frustrated? You bet you’re burned out.

In ninety percent of the cases, burnout is followed by a non-real fear. It happens to entrepreneurs and managers who often set high standards and find it difficult to accept that they cannot do something.

As a woman, do you have a dual function such as work and family and are you also an informal caregiver? Then you are soon in the danger zone. You get disappointed in yourself, which in turn leads to stress, fatigue, fear of failure, all kinds of other complaints and finally to exhaustion.

Hard to comprehend

If you are burned out mentally, then your mind can hardly contain burnout. It is going to lead a life of its own and you become increasingly stressed.

“Flip a button”

Not only you, but everyone who is burned out, has the feeling that somewhere ‘a knob must be turned’. If this does not happen quickly, your complaints will get worse! Compare it with a broken leg.

Broken leg

You break it in one go and it is also set in one go. Only then will your healing begin. If you continue to walk with it without having to let your leg get stuck, then it will crochet together.

Put first

It is the same with burnout. First ‘set’ by ‘turning the right buttons’ and then the healing starts. It took you a while to become burned out, but the first symptoms suddenly appeared and got worse.

Unknowingly know

You unknowingly know that you have the ability to change negative or positive in one go. Hence the feeling of that button.

The best approach

A correct approach does not therefore have to take long. Positive change is faster than you think. Unfortunately it does not happen automatically. The condition is that you are motivated and willing to fully commit yourself.

Five blessings from a BURNOUT

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Burnout seems to turn your life upside down in one go. But it is the other way around. Burn-out means that you have finally landed with both feet on the ground … It is not a curse, but a blessing. No blockage, but an opportunity.

Burnout is not a disease or weakness, but a sign of powerful self-healing capacity.

HERE THE FIVE BLESSINGS:

Blessing 1: Burn-out extends your life
Burn-out is a reminder that you have an expiration date. Anyone who is exposed to enormous stress every day will get a stomach ulcer, heart attack, or cancer … And in the end you will die from long-term stress, directly or indirectly, simply. A burnout prevents it from happening. You simply can no longer continue as before. You can therefore greatly thank your body. It does not let you down, but prevents you prematurely dying. Burn-out is a brilliant example of self-healing capacity.

Blessing 2: Burnout brings passion
Various studies indicate that people on their deathbed mainly regret what they have not done. Of always postponing it. As if life is endless. A burnout tells you that NOW is the perfect time to not postpone anything for you. Take care of yourself. Live with attention. Follow your heart, passion and dreams. Spend more time with the people you love. Because not a single day returns. And, as the Little Orchestra once sang: started long ago …

Blessing 3: Burnout erases your old hard drive
If you get burned out, it is as if your internal hard drive has been erased. You become an empty head. Focusing on something is impossible. Even something as simple as making coffee can suddenly be a huge task. It seems like you’ve lost your mind. Don’t make the mistake of looking for it. After all, you cannot solve a problem with thought patterns that are the cause of it. Life only becomes truly worthwhile if you take this opportunity to change your mindset and thereby your actions.

Blessing 4: Burnout gives wings
Burnout is often mistakenly seen as a sign of weakness. While life is challenging you at that moment to experience your own strength. It is a transformation. You are no longer happy with the life you led. It is a too tight jacket that tears because you have grown too large. Like a cocoon bursts when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. And this person can fly into her freedom. Burnout is
your moment to spread your wings. It is not an end, but a fresh start. A chance to finally choose what you are meant for.

Blessing 5: Burn-out makes you better at work
Burn-out makes you a better and extremely reliable employee, colleague or manager. Because it learns to focus on what’s good for you. And from there you can also be better for others. You make better choices, discover where your strengths lie and what your limits are. In addition, from now on you will signal it when others enter the burn-out danger zone. And with that know-how, you can greatly help your colleagues and employer.

Entrepreneurs Growth is not that Difficult:

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

1. Set goals
2. Achieving goals

Still, many entrepreneurs are going wrong there.

1. No / vague goals
2. Work harder and harder as a strategy to achieve the goals.

Can you NOW list your 3 most important business growth goals for Q4 2019?

Most people can't name anything.
And the people who say something do not set goals, but hope:

More sales
Better customer retention
Larger margins
That kind of goals is like a darts game where the assignment is:

"Throw some arrows in the board."

Quite hopeless. And yet that is exactly the way so many entrepreneurs try to grow.

Vague. Without strategy.

The danger: if you throw enough arrows in the direction of the dartboard, an arrow will automatically end up in the bulls eye once in a while.
The entrepreneur happily throws his arms in the air and shouts, "You see, it works!"

In reality this is the formula for success:

1. Set meaningful and challenging goals
2. Develop a system for achieving those goals

If a goal is not useful, stop it immediately in the event of a setback or temptation.
If a goal is not challenging, you only go half way for it.

Furthermore, it is important to realize that you do not have to work twice as hard to double your result.
If you continuously focus only on what matters most, your output will double without increasing your input.

But there is a step missing in this formula.
And without this step you can achieve goal after goal, and eventually die with regret.

The formula for sustainable success:
1. Set meaningful and challenging goals
2. Develop a system for achieving those goals
3. Develop habits so that you enjoy the goals you have achieved (the missing step)

If you don't have them, Learn them, Develop them, Use them, make them your habit.

Hugging more important than imagined

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail
Image result for hugging

Hugging does a person good and we owe that to the hormone oxytocin. It is not without reason that it is also called the hug hormone. As early as 1906, scientists saw how our brains produce oxytocin through touch and social interaction.

Later more and more were discovered about this. The hormone oxytocin, for example, is important to get an emotional bond with someone and indispensable in giving birth and breastfeeding children. The hormone causes contractions to be induced for childbirth. From birth it contributes to the attachment between mother and child and together with the other hormone prolactin it provides the reflex reflex needed for breastfeeding.

Crucial role

Researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science discovered that oxytocin is crucial much earlier than during labor. They conclude that the hormone is essential for brain development of an embryo, because it plays a role in the formation of blood vessels in the pituitary gland.

Instinct

Both women and men make oxytocin. The hormone ensures that we reproduce as a species. Because it is a substance that makes us feel good, oxytocin can be seen as a reward for our brain. We are rewarded for being with others. This causes us to be social beings and explains why loneliness makes us sick.

The release of oxytocin is related to a person’s ability to build meaningful relationships. Hugging your child is an ancient, natural instinct that gives both the parent and the child a good feeling. In addition, it forms the basis of our emotional and physical well-being.

These folks are forcing the technology that mankind have devised and changing it into ways which they can market their services and products. It has altered entrepreneurship has been and has made entrepreneurs a perspective that was essential. In reaching the customers of a business enterprise of entrepreneurship today is worked Nearly half is performed via the Internet due to its way. And as a lot more businesses become globalised, the effect of the professionals will likely be felt.

Extent and the range of the way entrepreneurship is completed will continue to evolve and change as the planet continues to evolve and change. But in the long run, there are still issues on how a company, whether marketed digitally or physically, is worked and how it is financed. It has become a recognized field with a large scope of challenges, while there are still many stories and testimonials about entrepreneurship. Some of the successful and effective entrepreneurs are Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Michael Gastauer. They have been able to make themselves known globally. The found denominator that disturbs entrepreneurs is currently starting a company whether it is via invention discovering the right chance for a business break or buying a franchise. For it to workout, all these tasks require appropriate preparation and organization in all its facets. Every entrepreneur is also confronted with funding their business venture. Intrapreneurs are faced with financial issues even in principles. So, unless your enterprise stems from your own pocket’s cash funds is a challenge that requires preparing fund proposals or software presented or to be written. There is a good deal of information that are written about these stages in an entrepreneurial venture that sorts itself too bad from good.

Once past these challenges though, an entrepreneur may anticipate a smooth excursion involving gain. In the event has a strategy that is good, everything should proceed with just mistakes on the way towards their goals. The execution stage seems to be the stage where it will make or break a business. Entrepreneurship today dictates that there are hypotheses that part of the matter is that the people creating the thought and implementing them are two distinct breeds. There is a wide array of skills required that nobody person can have the skills to handle of the functions, to be realistic. The actual talent behind a good entrepreneur is to have the ability then locate a work force that can fill in such gaps and to recognize what they do.

A different way to look at this implementation stage would be to look at just how many different skills are being included in operating a company. When operating a company, it entails sales, advertising, advertising, communications, employees, legal requirements and more. A company which doesn’t have a solid technical basis cannot survive long. Suitable ethics in addition to strategies must be followed in order to become successful from the entrepreneurship now.

KEGEL EXERCISES FOR BETTER BUSINESS IN THE BEDROOM

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Kegel-exercises have been the recommended way for women to strengthen the pelvic muscles for a number of years. Such exercises are often recommended after birth, and are often the first choice treatment for incontinence – but these exercises seem to have positive effects also iregarding sexuality. It has been found that Kegel-exercises also have an effect on men – especially when it comes to sexual performance and sexual health.

In the late 40’s, Dr. Alfred Kegel described what later became known as Kegel -exercises, as a way to strengthen pelvic floor muscles in women. Today, the method is recognized worldwide as the first choice in terms of stress incontinence and genital prolapse in women. In 1952 Dr.Kegel presented a report where he claimed that the Kegel exercises also increased both the orgasm frequency (how many orgasms) and orgasm’s strength among women who did these exercises.

For men, it has long been claimed that strengthening of pelvic and pelvic floor muscles may be successful in treating premature ejaculation (PE), and Kegel exercises may be useful in this regard. However, exercise of special pelvic floor muscles is also found to have a large positive effect when it comes to erectile dysfunction (ED) and impotence.

The kegel exercises are easy to perform. Find the muscles used to control urine flow or urination – and pinch these together repeatedly.

To find the right muscle and get used to “pinching” or “tightening” them, it’s useful to try to stop urine flow when urinating. One common way to do this is to stop the flow, count to ten, relax and resume water drainage.

This is repeated as often as possible during the water drain. In this way, you get a good «contact” with your muscles and get to know them.

The exercises can be done without urinating at the same time, but urination offers a nice opportunity to check that you are using the correct muscles.

Make between 10-20 such “contractions” or “cuts” three times daily, but as mentioned, this does not need to be associated with urination – just make sure you have found the right muscles and use urination to control the effect and that you are doing it in the right way.

The results of such Kegel-exercises for men can be quite impressive. After three months, erectile function significantly improved among the men who performed the Kegel-exercises. After six months, 40% of the men who performed Kegel-exercises regained normal erectile function, while 35% of men who performed the Kegel-exercises improved their erectile function. For 25 percent of men, Kegel-exercises had no effect – and these seem constitute a group of men with a special etiology (the cause of the disease) regarding ED.

Given how simple and effective these exercises are in relation to this disorder wich often have a major impact on the perceived quality of life and wich may lead to depression. For problems such as incontinence and impotence Kegel-exercises should be the obvious recommendation from a doctor, gynecologist or urologist to men and women suffering from any of these problems. Still, these exercises are so easy to perform on you own – so that many a visit to the doctor can be avoided – a minimal or small dedication can lead to great results.
